It’s been forever – I finally made a complete new clip in Ableton. This clip has become the current background music for a space-shooter game I’ve been working on. There’s a lot happening in the clip itself, I’ve been using a lot of effects and filters to create the glitch-effects on different drum patterns I’ve worked out and to modify the sounds of my base instruments.

I recently did another CD review for NoTreble – this time I got to check out John Patitucci’s “Remembrance.” To say the least I was blown away, Patitucci is such a diverse and agile player, the sounds he is able to get from his trio are awesome. Check out theĀ album and be sure to check out my review!

There was an interesting NYTime Op-Ed piece today on the difference social media is making in our concept of journalism and engagement. I agree with the author that “journalism” as a disciplineĀ has certain requirements in style and structure, but I do not think that discounts the value of social media in reporting news. While journalists may act as a lens for those of us far away to gaze into another place they are also a filter, applying their own selective biases consciously or not. There are advantages to each, but I put my preference in having the access to the unfiltered media and information to make my own decisions, or at least to suppliment the view of a journalist.

Reportr.net also gives some interesting insight from the “Future of Journalism Conference.”
